A day in the life of an intern!

Day in the Life of an Intern!

Trévon Williams
Georgia State University

May 25, 2011.

The day of the Coors Light Search for the Coldest concert series headlined by N*E*R*D. I had prepped for weeks and weeks for this day, and was ecstatic that it had finally arrived. Here is a recap of my day.

8 am: Well rested, getting up and getting ready for my eventful day

10:00 am: I arrived to the office and was met by Daniel and the other interns. As soon as I walked In, I was immediately put to work. A first task was to make sure all

attendees had received the correct event confirmations.

10:30 am: After ensuring all attendees (press, ticket giveaway contestants, volunteers, etc) I had to pitch to more last minute media outlets and celebrity publicists.

11:15 am: Persuaded about 4 new media outlets to come out enjoy the show as well as new celebrity guests. Nicole arrived to the office to prep me for my first event walk thru.

12:00 pm: Continued to update all lists as more RSVPs started flooding my inbox, left with Nicole and Daniel and headed to Mansion Élan for the walk thru.

12:30 pm Arrived to Mansion Élan and met by a new interior. I have never seen Mansion Elan this way. It was outfitted with several ice structures including bars, furniture and statues. I met a few of the MillerCoors executives and other participating event sponsors. Finally, I completed the actual venue walk thru twice. Once with the entire team and once with The Garner Circle team

1:00 pm: I attended a meeting with executives to confirm that everyone is on the same page for the night. Worked out any last minute details/ confusion. Sent out updates/reminders to media and guests.

1:30 pm: Went to Lunch with Nicole and Daniel, taught more lessons about PR including maintaining professionalism, how to properly network and communicate, and how communication really is key.

3:00 pm: Got to office and glad to see that the other interns were helping out with the last minute tasks of the event execution process, I got back and printed all the necessary guest lists and signage for the night.

4:00 pm: Left to get ready for event.

6:00 pm: Arrived at Mansion Élan and security had already arrived, met with MillerCoors executives to receive all press passes, their lists, and other materials.

6:30 pm: prepped check in tables and stations, walked thru venue again with volunteers to show them the ropes.

7:00 pm: Security Meeting to get everyone familiar with all check in procedures, appropriate credentials, etc.

7:30 pm: General Admission line starting forming

8:00 pm: Doors Open and Check In begun! Check in run very smoothly with the help of volunteers. Recognized a lot of familiar press. Gave the press all of the necessary credentials for event access as well as instructions for the night.

10:00 pm: Press check in relieved and General Admission finally closed. Assisted with VIP check-in.

10:30 pm: Enjoyed N*E*R*D’s performance as well as complimentary appetizers provided by Coors Light! Cruised the crowd and press area to ensure everything was running smoothly and all guests were happy.

11:15 pm: Made sure every check-in station was shut down and all materials were collected.

11:30 pm: Drafted Media Recap for the night and sent to Daniel

12:00 am: Got some well deserved rest!
