A Day in the Life of an Intern – Simone Harvin

Fresh from completing a public relations internship in Los Angeles, as I returned to Atlanta to finish my last quarter of school I knew if I wanted to be savvy in PR that I needed more experience. I had my eye on The Garner Circle PR for over a year because of the amazing events and public relations initiatives they had previously done. So, when the opportunity arose to apply for an internship I knew the time had finally come. Following a tweet I saw stating The Garner Circle was looking for fall interns, I applied, interviewed and was offered the opportunity to intern and learn from the company. Although I had completed a previous PR internship, I was interested in learning how The Garner Circle approached the world or public relations and events in the Atlanta market.

The first Garner Circle event that I had the pleasure of working on was the Kenya Moore Forever Relevant Costume Gala, held on a beautiful Sunday evening at the Callanwolde Estate in Atlanta.

Atlanta (Pitchengine.com) July, 2011 -The City of Atlanta Mayor's Office is excited to welcome the third annual ONE Musicfest to the all new 4th Ward Historic Park, the first completed urban park of the Atlanta Beltline project. In celebration of its three year anniversary, One Musicfest has grown from it's humble concert beginnings to include an interactive block party and food fest.  The all day outdoor concert will feature live performances by a diverse group of performers at the Masquerade Music Park.  Across the street at the Historic Fourth Ward Park, ONE Musicfest participants will enjoy nationally and internationally renown DJs, a specialty food truck park, vending from local businesses, Live Art, VIP tents and interactive gaming. This year's ONE MusicFest non-profit partner is Yo Boulevard. Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall declared 2012 the “Year of Boulevard,” committing to revitalize and re-inspire this once dynamic intown Atlanta neighborhood. ONE MusicFest will take place Labor Day Weekend on Saturday, September 1, 2012, can be purchased at select retailers and online at http://onemusicfest.com/tickets.html

This year ONE Musicfest brings in the talents of Santigold, Big KRIT, Marsha Ambrosius formerly of Floetry, Eric Roberson and legends of Hip-Hop, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick, Dougie Fresh, and MC Lyte. Santi White, better known by her stage name Santigold, recently released her second album - Master of My Make-Believe and will join ONE MusicFest for her first ever performance in Atlanta. Additional acts will be announced in the coming weeks.  Previous ONE MusicFest concert headliners include internationally acclaimed artists such as Common, De La Soul, Goapele, Chrisette Michelle, The Pharcyde, DJ Mick Boogie and a cornucopia of grassroots talent.  ONE Musicfest's mission of Unity Through Music earned the festival organizers the city of Atlanta's coveted "Phoenix Award."  Infusing artists and bands that will unify spectators through the universal language of sound, ONE Musicfest fills a necessary void in the city's music experience.

"There is a lack of representation for soul, progressive hip-hop, alternative and rock, represented under one roof, in the format of music festivals in Atlanta", states J Carter, ONE Musicfest Producer.  "We have noticed that while there are many pockets of individuals that share taste in the same music, rarely do you see them share in this together. ONE Musicfest was created with the idea of 'music as the universal language. Over time we aim to grow this fest into a phenomenon and bring together different sectors of individuals through a unique music platform."

With the diverse musical and cultural appetites within a city rich in a history of great musical tradition, ONE Musicfest pledges to provide an environment that truly caters to the genre bending palette. ONE Musicfest will take place Labor Day Weekend on Saturday, September 1, 2012.  Tickets can be purchased at select retailers and online at http://onemusicfest.com
